Named after Rhinebeck Farmers Market founder John Honey, this scholarship is intended to support the education and future success of a student who is dedicated to promoting local agriculture and enhancing the social, economic, and environmental sustainability of the Hudson Valley
Eligible applicants: We are seeking a college or university student enrolled in the academic year 2015-2016 who resides in the Mid-Hudson Valley and who will remain in the Mid-Hudson Valley after graduating. High school seniors are encouraged to apply.
Preference will be given to applicants who:
- Are permanent residents of the Mid-Hudson Valley or will return to the Mid-Hudson Valley after graduating to advance purpose of the scholarship
- Are majoring in agriculture, food systems, sustainability, food science, environmental studies, or a related field
- Have a demonstrated commitment to Hudson Valley sustainable agriculture
Award: A single $2,000 scholarship will be awarded to a qualified candidate selected by the Rhinebeck Farmers Market scholarship committee and will be paid directly to their college or university to defray expenses.
