MAY 13TH - OPENING DAY / MOTHER'S DAY

COMMUNITY GROUP:

Wilderstein Historic Site - Hudson Valley Victoriana at its best. Exquisite Queen Ann style mansion, 1888 interiors, grounds designed by Calvert Vaux. Home of Margaret (Daisy) Suckley, cousin and confidante of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. House Tours, walking trails and remarkable Hudson River views.

Steve Chizmadia - Steve is an award winning artist from the Hudson Valley with strong roots in the singer songwriter tradition, country and rock.

MAY 27TH

T-Shirt Sale to Benefit the John Honey Scholarship Fund - In 2010, the Rhinebeck Farmers' Market Board of Directors began awarding the John Honey Scholarship, named in honor of founding member on the Board of Directors, John Honey. The $1500 award is granted to a graduating Rhinebeck or Red Hook High School senior or a graduating senior who is the child of a Rhinebeck Farmers' Market vendor who will be attending college to major in agriculture, food science, environmental studies or a related field.

David Temple - Classical Guitarist, composer and recording artist, David Temple has performed throughout the country, featuring music from Brazil and Spain in addition to original arrangements and compositions.

The Pamelech Klezmer Orkester - A devoted crew of mid-Hudson Valley musicians who love the magic of making music together. With an appreciation for Eastern European folk music, an emphasis on Klezmer, and a healthy dose of humor they crank out the tunes with heart from playful freylekhs to soulful horas and an more lot in between!

JULY 15TH

Summer Berries - Jam Making Demonstration and Tasting with Jammer Julia Sforza of Half-Pint Preserves. Julia will go over the basics of canning berry jams from berry prep to ladling hot jam in jars and then processing in a boiling water bath to make them last until the cold winter. There is nothing like opening a jar of jewel-toned local berry jam in the dead of February. Make sure you capture the local season this summer!

MUSIC:

10am - David Baggett - Singing traditional, modern folk, blues or original compositions and playing guitar, mandolin, banjo, bouzouki or ukulele.
11:30am Kyle Esposito - Americana-infused rock. Kyle is currently at work on his first solo project, bringing together acoustic and electric sensibilities, folk roots and pop branches, and both slightly off-center narrative and emotionally impressionistic lyrics.

JULY 22ND

COMMUNITY GROUP:

The Town of Rhinebeck Conservation Advisory Board (CAB) - The CAB examines and recommends measures to improve and protect Rhinebeck's natural environment. It also reviews applications before the Planning Board and makes recommendations on environmentally sensitive aspects of those applications. The nine-member Board operates in an advisory role only. The CAB meets monthly at Town Hall and their meetings are open to the public.

MUSIC:

Bob Capowski - From Robert Johnson to Robert Plant: heartfelt renditions of 20th century songs from popular, blues and folk traditions, for children of all ages.

JULY 29TH

HandPicked Nation Dollar Day - HandPicked Nation will be in the market to promote awareness of the Farmer's Market shopping experience for kids age 6-14. Kids sign up to receive HandPicked Nation Dollars redeemable at each of the participating farmer's booths. They'll document what the kids buy through video, stills and interviews and post it on HandPicked Nation.

Eric Erickson - Acoustic guitar-based originals and classic covers.

AUGUST 5TH

COMMUNITY GROUP:

Winnakee Land Trust - Winnakee Land Trust works to protect open space, farmland and forests and establish public-access trails in northern Dutchess County. This season visit Winnakee's parks! The 76 acre Burger Hill Park in Rhinebeck and the 102 acre Winnakee Nature Preserve in Hyde Park are both perfect for hikers and nature lovers.

MUSIC:

Cathy Young - A Rhinebeck native, Cathy is a singer/songwriter, performing acoustic rock/contemporary country originals, and a wide variety of covers from the 70's to today.

AUGUST 12TH - TOMATO DAY

Chef Demonstration and Tasting with Gigi Hudson Valley featuring ripe, juicy, local tomatoes. Stop by Gigi Trattoria for brunch and then head to the farmers' market.

COMMUNITY GROUP:

Rhinebeck Village Tree Commission - A volunteer group established by the newly created Tree Preservation Law to protect and maintain street trees and trees on public lands in the Village of Rhinebeck. Stop by find out more about the new law and bring your questions about choosing, planting and pruning trees as well.

MUSIC:

Jason Waters - Jason brings forth a contemporary folk-rock sound that represents a blend of British rock (The Beatles, Coldplay) and American folk (Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Johnny Cash, Ray LaMontagne) influences. Heart-felt and emotionally driven, his music seeks to speak to the dreamers and lovers in all of us.

Cleoma's Ghost - Sweet as a Georgia Peach spicy as a Chili pepper, Cleoma's Ghost plays old time Cajun music from the heart. Blending in some of their own original songs, they are a dance party contained in a duo. Sweet vocal harmonies.They will make you want to get up and dance and swoon. Sometimes at the same time!

Taste of the Market - Stop by for a market wide tasting of the very best of the harvest.

Perry Beekman: Jazz Guitarist and Vocalist - Perry Beekman is a guitarist & vocalist deeply rooted in the classic tradition of jazz. His repertoire features tunes from the Great American Songbook, many of which comprised the repertoires of such greats as Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra and Mel Torme. The warm sound of Perry's jazz guitar beautifully complements his rich baritone voice. His music is a wonderful combination of sophistication, excitement, and fun.

Catskill Animal Sanctuary - A safe haven for abused, abandoned, and neglected horses and farm animals while heightening public awareness of the treatment of these animals and its impact on humans, animals, and the planet we share through innovative on and off-site programming, and serving as an educational resource to schools and youth organizations. Stop by to talk to us about volunteer opportunities, providing an adoptive home, and for more information about our educational events.

Sinterklaas - Get ready for Sinterklaas 2012! Visit their table at the market and find out more about this old Dutch Tradition in Rhinebeck. Bring your baubles, ribbon, "jewels", lace, buttons, bows, and other shiny stuff for this year's Crowns and Branches. That's right, the Sinterklaas parade and fun are coming back this winter!
